OMAHA (DTN) -- Here are the Top 5 things the DTN Newsroom is tracking for the week of Jan. 4. Watch for coverage of these and other topics throughout the week on our subscription platforms as well as on www.DTNPF.com.
Note that all report release and webinar times are Central Standard Time unless otherwise noted.
1. Marketing in the new year: We're watching for any momentum in the grains markets ahead of the Jan. 10 World Agricultural Supply and Demand Estimates (WASDE) report release.
2. American Farm Bureau Federation Convention: Farm winter meeting season kicks off with the AFBF Convention late in the week. We'll have coverage from Anaheim, California, and potentially the first significant chance for ag media to have open press time with USDA Secretary Brooke Rollins.
3. Another warm week: A January thaw could be moving into the center section of the country, with temperatures pushing 70 degrees Fahrenheit in areas that should be in a deep freeze. We're also watching for a new weather pattern to develop, possibly bringing rain to many areas mid to late week.
4. International weather: Widespread showers will continue across central Brazil through the first half of the week, but they could eventually taper off across east-central Brazil. Central and southern Argentina will remain mostly dry into early in the week before a few cold fronts provide scattered showers during the second half of the week.
